James "Jim" Paquette, age 69, of Faribault, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault following an extended illness. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Drive) in Faribault. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provide by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. There will be no viewing at the church on Tuesday. James Emil Paquette, the son of Aaron and Florence (Friesen) Paquette, was born on February 13, 1943 in Faribault. He attended the Faribault High School and later enlisted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After receiving an honorable discharge, Jim returned to Faribault and began his thirty plus year employment with the Faribault School District as a custodian at various schools. He also worked at Farmer Seed and Nursery in Faribault for twenty years. On June 26, 1968, Jim was united in marriage to Evelyn Moravec. She later preceded him in death on May 22, 2009. Jim enjoyed gardening, all types of animals and spending his free time outdoors. He was a member of the VFW Post 1562 in Faribault. Jim is survived by his stepchildren, Mardelle Walderon of Faribault, Jean (Bill) Weierke of Farmington and Lenny (Doreen) Walderon of Randall, MN; his eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; his sisters, Judy (Lloyd) Pittman of Bloomington and Pat Paquette of Owatonna and by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his infant sister, Catherine Paquette.
