James G. Oaks

James “Jim" Oaks, age 61 of Faribault, MN passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at his home.

James Gerald, the son of Richard and Dolores (Wood) Oaks, was born on June 20, 1963 in St. Paul, MN. Jim grew up on the West End of St. Paul and graduated from Humboldt High School with the Class of 1981. He attended the University of Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Robin Moser on October 31, 2013 in St. Paul, MN. Together they enjoyed hiking in the woods, travel, and going for bicycle rides. In 2009, Jim attended Le Cordon Bleu and became a chef. He loved to cook for his friends and family. He was a teacher at the Minnesota State Academy of the Blind. He loved teaching his students and they loved him.

Jim is survived by his wife, Robin; children, John, Grace, and Matthew; stepchildren, Chris and Becca; grandchildren, Luna, Ponyo, and Aurora; siblings, Cindy Casey, Nancy Walstrom, Debra Testa, Andrew (Marie) Oaks, and Mary (Marty) Madsen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Luke Oaks; and brothers-in-law, Ron Testa and Chuck Casey.

Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, Faribault. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
