James W. "Irish" McShane, age 75 of Faribault, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, CA following a sudden illness. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. A rosary service will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. James William McShane, the son of Henry and Florence (Hickey) McShane, was born on March 22, 1934 in Faribault, MN. He graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1951. He married Barbara Reichert on June 29, 1957 in Massena, NY. Jim farmed and worked as a heavy equipment operator for 44 years. He worked for Kramer Construction for 20 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 49ers Union for 50 years. Following his retirement he and Barb traveled in their motor home and wintered in Arizona and Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Barbara McShane of Faribault; two sons, Michael (Judith) McShane of Caldwell, ID and Patrick McShane (Mary Sycks) of LeCenter; six grandchildren, Jeremiah (Crystal), Sean, Elizabeth, Andrew, Bridget, and Jordan; two great grandchildren, Makayla and Makenzie; brother, Clem McShane of Faribault; sisters and brothers-in-law, Blanche Reichert, Jim (Debbie) Reichert, Joe (Ramona) Reichert, and Carol (Quint) Juvland; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Katie McShane.
