James "Fudgy" Hughes, age 72 of Faribault, passed away on January 13, 2018 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following a short illness.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister of Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny, MN at a later date.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
James Matthew was born on February 27, 1945, in Faribault to William and Emma (Halik) Hughes. He attended school in Montgomery. James was married to Pam Teske and they were later divorced. He worked for nearly 43 years at McQuay's/Daikin in Faribault. Fudgy enjoyed going for cruises around the lakes listening to polka music on KCHK and visiting the resorts. In the winter, he often would be found ice fishing with his buddies.
He is survived by his children, Heidi Markham (Robert Miller) of Faribault, Adam Bjorklund of Faribault, and Amanda Bjorklund (Charles Smith) of Minneapolis; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, Marvin (Jean) Hughes of St. Paul, MN; numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son in infancy; brother and sister in infancy; and brother, Kenny Hughes.
