James E. Chappuis, age 73, of Puposky, MN, died suddenly on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Sanford Regional Hospital in Bemidji, following longtime medical complications. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home and Crematory of Faribault. Inurnment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday for one hour prior to services. James Ernest Chappuis was born November 29, 1937 in Faribault, MN to Ernest and Ruth Chappuis. He grew up and attended school in Faribault and graduated from Faribault High School. He attended Mankato State University and St. Thomas University graduating with a BA, BS, MS in Education Administration. He served in the U.S. Army before graduate school. He married Cheryl Smith on December 4, 1970 in Minneapolis, MN. They lived in Coon Rapids, MN and he worked at Lino Lakes Correctional Facility. He retired in 1996 and they moved to Lake Julia in Puposky, MN. He enjoyed golf, fishing and loved military history. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Chappuis of Puposky, MN, two sons, Vincent James Chappuis of Blaine, MN and Chad Lynn Ernest (Suzy) Chappuis of Greenfield, MN; by 3 grandchildren; by two brothers, Pat (Teresa) Chappuis of Faribault, MN and Tom (Dina) Chappuis of Potsdam, NY and by a brother in law, Fred Rost of Nevis, MN and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Diane Rost.
