Israel B. Salazar, age 57, of Faribault, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault. Israel Benavides Salazar, the son of Carlos and Felicidad (Benavides) Salazar, was born on September 16, 1954 in San Antonio, TX. He lived in San Antonio until moving to Faribault in 1988. He has worked in factories in Faribault since his arrival. For the past 23 years he has shared his life with Diana Carrejo. Israel was a great mechanic, and enjoyed fishing and cowboy movies. He was devoted to his faith and offered daily prayers for family members and friends. He was always there for others when needed. He is survived by his wife, Diana Carrejo of Faribault; children, Joe Mario (Maribel) Carrejo of Faribault, Margie (Abram) Del Bosque of Menasha, WI, Feliz Cozad of Faribault, Essie Mae Cozad of Faribault, and Michelle Salazar; six grandchildren; sister, Gloria Salazar of Boston, MA; brothers, Antonio Salazar of San Antonio, TX, and Rudy Salazar of San Diego, CA; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Elias and Benjamin Salazar. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
