Irvin W. Becker, age 88 of Faribault, MN passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, surrounded by his family, at Mill City Senior Living in Faribault.
Irvin William, the son of Mathew and Clara (Blatz) Becker was born on October 21, 1935 in Faribault, MN. He attended Country School and then served in the U.S. Army for two years. On June 6, 1959 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Trenda at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Northfield. Charlotte preceded him in death on October 19, 2023. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Irvin began his career as a Mason and eventually started a business, I & R Construction, with his partner. Together they operated this business for 10 years and then he went off on his own and operated Becker Masonry for over 20 years until his retirement. Irvin enjoyed going on snowmobile trips for many years with family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, building bird houses and their card club group. Walking was very important to Irvin and he recently told his granddaughter that he’d get up before the world was awake to exercise so it wouldn’t interfere with his activities for the day. Irvin walked enough miles to have walked around the world and was recognized for this. He also walked and ran in several 5k races.
He is survived by his daughters, Diane Daily (Rod), Sharon Becker (Rick Rugroden), and Linda Becker (Don Eustice); eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Imogene Caron (Hilary), Elaine Glynn and Norman Becker; in-laws, Roselyn Becker, Ramona Reichert, Sandi Johnson and Clarence Trenda Jr. (Candice); and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathew and Clara Becker; his wife, Charlotte Becker; his brothers, Kenneth Becker and Lawrence Becker in infancy; by brothers-in-law, Joe Reichert and Dennis J. Glynn and sister-in-law, Lois Becker.
