Irene G. Quade, age 97 of Janesville, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Sunrise Cottage in Mankato. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City with Rev. Keith Bilitz officiating. Interment will be in the Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Monday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. Irene Gertrude was born on October 15, 1914 to August and Emma (Rux) Flemming in Alton Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She was baptized on November 8, 1914 and confirmed on April 1, 1928 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville by Rev. M. Winter. Irene graduated from Janesville High School in 1932 and went on to further her education at Mankato Teacher's College where she earned her teaching degree. For the next five years she taught country school in the Waseca County area. On June 14, 1939 she was united in marriage to Henry W. Quade at Trinity Lutheran Parsonage in Janesville. They farmed in Alton Township for 41 years. Irene and Henry retired in 1980 and in 1994 they moved to Janesville. She was a longtime member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City and served on the ladies aid for many years. Irene enjoyed time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Robert) Strauss of Janesville and Judy Krautbauer of Mankato; by her grandchildren, Dawn (Marvin) Pearson of Janesville, Blaine (Diane) Strauss of Prior Lake, Kristine (Chris) Mihm of North Mankato and Rick (Jill) Krautbauer of rural Janesville; by her three great grandchildren, Kelsey, Andrew and Carter Mihm; by her niece, Gwen Miller of California; by two nephews, Curtis (Louise) Roemhildt of rural Janesville and Ron (Bev) Kuehn of Wisconsin; by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Henry W. Quade on July 15, 2002; by her daughter Nancy Kreig; by her sons-in-law, Richard Kreig and Richard Krautbauer; by one brother Harold and her six sisters, Minnie, Rosina, Clara, Esther, Lydia and Agnes in infancy. Casket Bearers are: Dawn Pearson, Marvin Pearson, Kristine Mihm, Chris Mihm, Blaine Strauss, Diane Strauss, Rick Krautbauer and Jill Krautbauer.
