Ila Duesterhoeft

Ila Duesterhoeft, age 85 of Faribault, MN passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N. in Faribault with the Rev. Matthew Lane officiating.  Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Friday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Ila Ruth, the daughter of Oren and Alice (Joslin) Quaintance, was born on December 12, 1933 on her family farm in O’Brien County, Iowa.  They would later move to Minnesota and Ila graduated from Claremont High School.  On March 21, 1953 she was united in marriage to Donald Wallace in Owatonna, MN.  Don preceded her in death in May of 1976.  On November 24, 1976 Ila married Roy Duesterhoeft at Peace Lutheran Church in Faribault.  Roy preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1996.  Ila worked for over 37 years as a dietary aide at the Laura Baker School in Northfield.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading, flower gardening, traveling and especially loved her cats and spending time will all of her family.

She is survived by six children, Daniel (Carina) Wallace of Des Moines, IA, Donald Wallace of Wanamingo, MN, Cheryl (Jim) Kyllo of Wanamingo, David Wallace of Wanamingo, Douglas Wallace of Rochester, MN and Dewey Wallace of Wanamingo; by 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; by six siblings, John (Doreen) Quaintance, Kandy (Scott) Johnson, Roger (Becky) Quaintance, Norma (Dave) Hafstad, Barb Yerhart and Pat Quaintance; by three brothers-in-law, Tony Sanchez, George Townley and Bob Kidder; by two stepchildren, Keith Duesterhoeft and Brenda (Scott) Erickson and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, her son, Dick Wallace, her daughter, Nancy Wallace, by her granddaughter, Tara Rindahl, by her brother, Delbert Quaintance, by three sisters, Mary Townley, Lorna Kidder and Sue Sanchez and by her brother-in-law John Yerhart.
