Hope B. Bromeling, age 90 of Mankato, formerly of rural Eagle Lake, died on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill with Rev. Keith Bilitz officiating. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home, and will continue on Monday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, ISJ Hospice, or donor's choice. Hope Benita was born on April 27, 1918 in Janesville, Minnesota to Fred and Adeline (Quade) Schwandt. Hope was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill. She attended Smiths Mill Country School. On November 16, 1937 Hope was united in marriage to Earl Ray Bromeling at the Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church Parsonage in Smiths Mill. Hope and Earl lived on the family farm in LeRay Township, Blue Earth County. She was a busy farm wife raising chickens, ducks, geese, feeding calves, planting her huge garden and raising two children, Jeanette and Myles. She was a life long member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill where she taught Sunday school and held various offices in the Ladies Aid. Hope enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching soap operas, and following the Minnesota Twins. She loved quilting for her family, and was famous for her homemade bread. Hope is survived by her daughter Jeanette (Jerome) Koberg of Mankato, and her son Myles (Marcene) Bromeling of Mankato; by her grandchildren Robin (Bernadette) Schendel, Blake Schendel, Dane (Tessie) Schendel, Adam (Becky) Schendel, Leah (Craig) Ogden, Marc (Rose) Bromeling, and Mandy (Donovan) Taber; by her 17 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren; by her nephew Maynard (Joyce) Schwandt and her niece Gayle (Michael) Anderson; by many cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl Ray Bromeling on May 15, 1982 and her brother Lowell Schwandt. Casketbearers are her grandchildren; Robin Schendel, Blake Schendel, Dane Schendel, Adam Schendel, Leah (Schendel) Ogden, Marc Bromeling, and Mandy Taber.
