Herbert Senne

Herbert M. Senne, age 89, of Faribault, MN, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Sholom Home Care Center in St. Louis Park, MN.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at the Faribault Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Jason Salyers, officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault at a later date.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:30 - 3:00 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.

Herbert Merton was born on August 10, 1928 in Chamberlain, SD to Carl and Katurah (Viall) Senne. He graduated from Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson, MN, with the class of 1946. Herb was united in marriage to Jean McKellip on June 1, 1947 in Faribault. He worked in the insurance industry traveling to many parts of Minnesota. Herb then owned and operated Senne Insurance Agency for many years until his daughter Laurie cared for the business. He continued working in customer service as a cashier at Walgreens for about 15 years until his retirement at age 88. Herb was a Rotary member for many years and devoted a great amount of time to the Faribault Seventh-Day Adventist Church, serving as longtime Church Elder. Herb and Jean enjoyed their travels across much of the United States and their passion for making candy for others. Herb also was an avid collector, which included coins, stamps, and other items to keep him occupied.

He is survived by his daughter, Diane (Robert) Johnson of Minnetonka, MN; son-in-law, John Staber of Lakeville, MN; grandchildren, Drew Johnson (Kylie), Lexi Johnson, and Dominic (Amanda) DeCoux; great grandchildren, Josiah, Levi, Simon, and Jane DeCoux; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean on January 27, 2017; parents, Carl and Katurah; daughter, Laurie Staber; brothers, Horace Senne, and Burrill Senne; and sisters, Dorothy Streightiff, and Elsie Johnston.
