Helen Kelley

Helen M. Kelley, age 81, of Faribault, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault following a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to IRIS, Infants Remembered In Silence, in memory of Helen.

Helen Marguerite, the daughter of Emmet and Irene (Bresenahan) Dougherty, was born on November 7, 1934 in Harpers Ferry, IA. She attended St. Patrick's High School in Waukon, IA and graduated with the class of 1952. On November 12, 1957 she was united in marriage to Mark Francis Kelley at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, IA. Helen worked as a computer operator at an accountant's office and later worked for 15 years in the accounting office for KGP Logistics. Mark preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2009. Helen enjoyed working in her flower gardens and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Faribault.

She is survived by her children, Diana Sundwall of Faribault and Gary Kelley and Wendy Adams of Pekin, IL; by nine grandchildren, Angie Sundwall of LaCrosse, WI, Andy Sundwall of Faribault, Jeff Sundwall of Steamboat Springs, CO, Caitlin Sundwall of Faribault, Krista Kelley and fiancé Nick Starcevich, Jason Kelley, Shawn, Cody, and Shelby Null all of Pekin, IL; by six great grandchildren, Madelyn Starcevich, Dallas, Alexis, Hayden, Hunter, and McKenzieRae Null all of Pekin, IL; by three brothers, John (Rita) Dougherty of Waukon, IA, Joe (Jean) Dougherty of Elkader, IA and Jim (Ilene) Dougherty of Dorchester, IA; by her sister, Alice Johnson of Cedar Rapids, IA; by her brother-in-law, John Urell of Waukon, IA and by longtime family friend, Bob Thorson of Faribault, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Derek Sundwall, brother, Donald Dougherty and two sisters, Mary (Mark) Wagner and Lela Urell.
