Helen A. Mahowald (Heselton), age 86 of Faribault, MN passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault with Fr. Kevin Kenney, officiating. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to services.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School, Divine Mercy Catholic Church or the Faribault Area Senior Center in memory of Helen.
Helen Ann, the daughter of Basil H. and Susan M. (Voegele) Heselton, was born on January 7, 1932 in Faribault. Helen attended St. Lawrence School and Bethlehem Academy High School, graduating with the class of 1950. After high school, Helen worked in the office as a bookkeeper for her father's company, B.H. Heselton Company until 1976. On November 23, 1957 she was united in marriage to LeRoy "Roy" Mahowald at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Roy preceded her in death on July 14, 2012. Helen was very active attending her grandchildren's different activities over the years and always enjoyed taking them on trips up to the cabin in Aitkin, MN. She also loved cooking, gardening, canning and playing euchre. She was a member of the St. Lawrence/St. Ann Society and the Faribault Senior Center.
She is survived by three children, Susan Kay (Norm) Hickel of St. Paul, MN, Anne (Joe) Pleskonko and James (Michelle) Mahowald, both of Faribault; by eight grandchildren, Dan Hickel (Sarah Randolph), Steven Hickel (Jordan Richards), Sarah (Sean) Davey, Kate (Drew) Wilwert, Jessica Pleskonko (Doug Bose), Joe Pleskonko, Mark Mahowald and Nicole Mahowald; by great grandson, JJ Wilwert; by two sisters, Sue (Tom) Melchior and Rosemary Nelson, both of Shakopee; by her brother, John (Carol) Heselton of Faribault; by her brother-in-law, Willis Bauer of Farmington, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Roy.
