Harriette M. Volz, age 97 of Faribault, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School in memory of Harriette.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Harriette Marie, the daughter of Oliver Sr. and Anna (Tilley) Boucher, was born on April 2, 1919 in Faribault, MN. She attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1937. On March 18, 1943 she was united in marriage to Emil B. Volz at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Following their marriage they lived in different cities across the country. When they returned to Faribault Harriette worked for JCPenney and later worked for 19 years as a Residence Hall Director for the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. Harriette was a member of several fraternal ladies auxiliary organizations including the VFW Post 1562, Knights of Columbus and the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women, the Daughters of Isabella and the Parkinson Support Group. Harriette enjoyed volunteering at the local nursing homes and also enjoyed playing cards, needlepoint and embroidery. Emil preceded her in death on June 17, 1996.
She is survived by her three children, David (Nancy) Volz of Minneapolis, Fred (Carol) Volz of Faribault and Mary Dube of Faribault; by five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; by two sisters, Regina Corbesia of Minneapolis and Rosemary Boucher of Minneapolis and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Thomas Volz, two sisters, Margaret Headline and Bernadette Ward and by four brothers, Oliver Jr., Joseph, John and Theodore Boucher.
