Harriet Budin

Harriet Budin, age 93 of Faribault, MN passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Faribault Senior Living following an extended illness.

Harriet, the daughter of Theodore and Elsie (Trcka) Holey was born on June 13, 1930 at their family farm in Erin Township, Rice County.  On October 11, 1949 she was united in marriage to Emil F. Budin at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, MN.  Emil preceded her in death on January 30, 1986.  Harriet and Emil farmed after their marriage and later owned and operated the Shieldsville Grocery Store for 31 years.  Harriet enjoyed sewing, playing bingo, baking, going to garage sales and auctions and trips to the casino.  Harriet loved spending time with all of her family.  She was a past president and life member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lonsdale and a member of the Golden Agers in Lonsdale and the Twin Lakes Sportsman Club.

She is survived by her children, Rita (Larry) Filan and Marvin (Irene) Budin, both of Faribault;  by four grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Kvestad, Janet Budin, Kevin (Jessica) Filan, Garrett Budin (Mary Murphy); by four great grandchildren, Aubrey Filan, Dylan Kvestad, Madison (Felipe) Ramirez and Austin Rendler and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant granddaughter and by her special friend, George Pumper and his daughter, Janet Jirik.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, MN with Fr. Tom Niehaus officiating.  Interment will be held at Trebon Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  There will be no visitation at the church on Friday.
