Harold Erickson

Harold W. Erickson, age 78, of Faribault, died on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.    Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, with Christine Sorensen, Pastoral Minister from Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault with Military Honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.    Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home.    Harold William Erickson, the son of Walter and Mayme (Pohjola) Erickson was born on November 12, 1931 in Virginia, Minnesota. He attended Mt. Iron High School and graduated with the class of 1949. In 1951, Harold enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. From his dedicated service, he was awarded the Purple Heart. In October of 1952, Harold was united in marriage to Dorothy Krasaway in Virginia, Minnesota. She preceded him in death on February 27, 1997. He worked as a train dispatcher for U.S. Steel for several years and later became employed at McQuay International in Faribault, retiring in 1991. In June of 1991, Harold and Dorothy made their new home in Trego, Wisconsin and returned to Faribault in 2005 to be closer to his family. Harold was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the VFW Post 1562 in Faribault and the American Legion Post 43, also of Faribault.     He is survived by his children, Lynn (Mark) Ropel of Pasedena, TX, Carol (Daniel) Scissons, Robert (Lynn) Erickson, JoAnn Erickson and John Erickson, all of Faribault; eight grandchildren, Chris Scissons, Jacob (Nicole) Scissons, Paul Scissons, Brian (Sheila) Erickson, Angela (Richard Harp) Erickson, Jade Rundquist, Jordan Rundquist and Jenna Rundquist; seven great grandchildren, Ethan Erickson, Gavin Erickson, Destiny Harp, Devin Harp, Dominic Harp, Ava Scissons and William Scissons; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends and by his loving cat Oscar.    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy, and by his three sisters Helen Dunn, Sylvia Pratt and Lillian Kotnik.
