Grace B. Sexton, age 84, of Faribault, MN, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Keystone Community in Faribault.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Divine Mercy Catholic School or the Alzheimer's Foundation in memory of Grace.
Grace B., the daughter of John and Lena (Leif) Buesgens, was born on January 28, 1932 in Cologne, MN. Grace attended St. Bernard's Elementary School and later graduated from Waconia High School. Following high school she attended Teachers Training School at Steven Seminary in Glencoe, MN. On August 5, 1953 she was united in marriage to Myron Sexton at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Cologne, MN. Grace taught grades 1-8 in a one room school house for a short time early in their marriage. She then stayed at home to raise their family. Later she would teach for 15 years at Consolidated Catholic Schools in Faribault. Grace also worked at the Faribault Regional Center in the kitchen and as a custodian. Grace was a great cook and loved taking care of her family and spending time with all of them. She was a seamstress and also enjoyed books, puzzles, playing cards, especially solitaire, wall papering, painting and refinishing furniture. Myron preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 2002.
She is survived by her four children, Kay Sexton of Northfield, MN, Peggy (David) Johnson of Faribault, Thomas (Denise) Sexton of Layton, UT and Diane Sexton of Eagan, MN; by four grandchildren, Brian (Denise Kadrlik) Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Joshua Sexton, Matthew Sexton, by two great grandchildren, Harper Johnson and Presley Johnson; by her sister, Joan (Richard) Joos of Hopkins, MN; by her sister-in-law, Elaine Buesgens of Young America, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Marie (Jimmy) Cauley, Julia (Ralph) Zubay, Ann (Raymond) Hilk, Jean (George) Steinhagen and three brothers, Frank (Eleanore) Buesgens, Dr. Ralph (Marcia) Buesgens and Mark Buesgens.
