Gordon Adamek

Gordy F. Adamek, age 59 of Morristown, MN, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault, MN. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services.

Memorials will be directed to a scholarship fund at South Central College, for those students seeking further education in manufacturing.

Gordon Francis was born on July 17, 1957 in Faribault to Joseph and Gladys (Uhlir) Adamek. Gordy graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1975 and Faribault Vo-Tech in 1977 with a degree in AAS Engineering and Drafting. He was married to Rosanne Bossmann on June 17, 1978, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. In April of 1977, Gordy started his lengthy career at Mercury Minnesota in Faribault, with his last position being VP/General Manager until his recent illness. Gordy was passionate about promoting education in high schools to encourage more students to further their education in manufacturing and skilled trade work. He was active with the Faribault Chamber of Commerce, Faribo SnoGo Club, and Rice County Sportfishing Association. Gordy loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, ATV, camping and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanne Adamek of Morristown; sons, Marcus G. Adamek, and Michael P. Adamek, both of Morristown; siblings, Beverly (Larry) Williams of Harbor Springs, MI, Loretta (Jim) Tupa of Faribault, Harry Adamek of Morristown, Jan Adams of Sun City, AZ, Darlene (Pat) Meillier of Faribault, Shirley (Randy) Gardner of Faribault, Joe (Lori) Adamek of Faribault, and Audrey (Kevin) Swanson of Faribault; step-siblings, Steve Roell (Aleen Waters) of Plymouth, MN, Mary Morgan Thompson of Henderson, NV, and Veronica Sperling of Boulder, CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Laura (Harlan) Smid of Montrose, CO, Dianne (Jim) Brown of Eyota, MN, Daniel (Sheila) Bossmann of Faribault, David (Judy) Bossmann of Faribault, Thomas (Kim) Bossmann of Faribault, Jimmy Bossmann (Tammy Lemke) of Kenyon, MN, Patricia Dickison (Steve Stadther) of Eagan, MN, Paul (Meredith) Bossmann of Faribault and Kathleen (Paul) Pumper of Faribault; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Adamek and Gladys Adamek Roell; sister-in-law, Leandra Adamek; niece, Lana Weed; brothers-in-law, Matt Morgan, Jay Thompson, and Dave Adams; and step-father, Elmer Roell.
