Gladys B. Pelinka, age 95, of Faribault, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the District One Hospital in Faribault. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. Michael Mandsager, officiating. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Gladys Bertina Hanson, the daughter of Nels Peter and Louise (Sage) Hanson, was born on March 26, 1914 in Cannon City Township, Rice County, MN. At a young age, Gladys started her career at the Faribault State Schools and Hospital. During WWII she and her sister, Sally, worked for a defense contractor in Portland, OR. Following the war she returned to work at the State Schools as a care provider. She married Lawrence Pelinka on April 20, 1965 in Duluth, MN. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1986. Gladys took great care of her siblings as they aged and was a much beloved aunt and a great friend to many. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; parents; and seven siblings, Oscar Hanson, Mabel Hanson, Art Hanson, Beatrice McCarthy, Berdell Gunning, Selma (Sally) Dolan, and Raymond Hanson.
