Gladys M. Hatfield, age 76, of Faribault, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the District One Hospital in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault, with Fr. Kevin Finnegan, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday for one hour prior to the services at the church. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gladys Marie Kaderlik, the daughter of Thomas and Christine (Filipek) Kaderlik, was born on January 29, 1933 in Montgomery and graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School in 1951. She was married to Donald Hatfield on August 28, 1952 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. While she was in school Gladys worked at Woolworths and at St. Mary's School. She was a homemaker for her 10 children and a talented seamstress, making numerous formal dresses for many years. She later worked at St. Lucas Care Center for 13 years. She was a member of the St. Lawrence/St. Anna Society. Gladys enjoyed her flower garden, reading, crocheting, baking, and was dedicated to the rosary twice daily. She loved caring for her grandchildren as babies and watching them grow over the years. She is survived by her husband, Don of Faribault; eight children, Pam Hatfield (special friend, Bob Matter) of Glenville, MN, Barb (Bucky) Meyer of Faribault, David Hatfield of Bloomington, Jim (Lori) Hatfield of Faribault, Nancy (Dave) Schoolmeesters of Lonsdale, Connie (Randy) Angell of Faribault, Susan (Rick) Angell of Faribault and Diane (Mike) Tingelhoff of Ellsworth, WI; daughter-in-law, Lori Hatfield of Faribault; son-in-law, Todd Castle; 37 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph (Loretta) Kaderlik of Eugene, OR and Richard (Doris) Kaderlik of Yerington, NV; two sisters, Jeanne (John) Duffner of Santa Paula, CA and Marge Cloutier of Arvada, CO; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Theresa Castle; son, Thomas Hatfield; sister, Lucy Davis; and brother, Stanley Kaderlik.
