Geraldine M. Brooks, age 89 of Faribault, died, Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Faribault Senior Living following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.
Geraldine Margaret, the daughter of Dennis F. and Gertrude (Kaiser) Glynn, was born on May 19, 1926 in Waseca, MN. She attended Sacred Heart High School in Waseca, MN and graduated with the class of 1944. Following high school she attended Mankato Business College, and then worked as a Cashier for REA. She would then move to Minneapolis and worked as a Secretary at General Mills. On August 16, 1948 she was united in marriage to Raymond J. Brooks at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault, MN. During the Korean War, Ray was stationed in Norfolk, VA and Gerry moved there with him and worked at the Western Union office. She really enjoyed their time spent in Norfolk. In 1952 they returned to Faribault and Gerry started working at the Faribault Regional Center and stopped working to raise their family. Ray preceded her in death on December 17, 2003. Gerry enjoyed traveling and toured most of the U.S. and Europe. She loved working in her garden and being with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Julie (Tom) Murphy of Cannon Falls, MN, Tina Aguilar of Santa Fe, NM and Dr. Tim (Kathy) Brooks of Red Wing, MN; by 8 grandchildren, Caitlin (Tommy) Quinn and Kiera Murphy, Dominic (Tawyna), Owen and Madelyne Aguilar and Ashley, Danielle and Lauren Brooks; by three sisters, Lucille Doss of Mankato, MN, Helen (Linus) Hoehn of Janesville, MN and Jeanne Schissel of Maplewood, MN; by her sister-in-law, Lorraine Glynn of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister in infancy, Catherine Glynn and by two brothers, Fr. Francis Glynn and Leo Glynn.
