George W. Voracek, age 91 of Faribault, died Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, 7525 Dodd Road, Faribault, MN. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services. George Wenceslaus Voracek, the son of Frank J. and Anna (Duban) Voracek, was born on December 30, 1917 at his family's home in Erin Township, Rice County, MN. He was united in marriage to Helen Skluzacek on November 27, 1944 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale, MN. George was a lifelong farmer in Forest Township. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 889 in Faribault, was one of the founding members of the Tri-Lakes Sportsman's Club, the Shieldsville Sportsman's Club, the Montgomery Czech Singers and the Sheriff's Reserve. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Voracek of Faribault; by seven children, George (Eileen) Voracek of Faribault, Jan (Steve) Gillen of Faribault, Mary Mensing and fiancé Jim Friedrichs of Mankato, Joan (Lenny) Smisek of Lonsdale, Grace Voracek of Faribault, Randy (Robin) Voracek of Faribault and Donna Mae (Ron) Kadrlik of Faribault; by 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and special friend of the family Linda Reed of Faribault. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Dawn Kuchinka, grandson, Jonathon Voracek and great grandsons, Benjamin Voracek and Mitchell Bloomquist.
