George E. Phyle, age 83, of Remer, MN passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at his son’s home in Lonsdale, MN.
George Eldred, the son of Eldred and Helen (Carlson) Phyle, was born on October 23, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN. George grew up in South Minneapolis and was the oldest of 5 boys. He graduated from Bloomington High School with the Class of 1956 and then attended the University of Minnesota before enlisting in the United States Air Force as a Helicopter Mechanic. Following his time in the Air Force he married Kathleen McCarty on May 16, 1964 in Phoenix, AZ. After leaving the Air Force, George and Kathy moved back to Minnesota and lived in the metro area from 1966 – 1974 and moved to Faribault in 1974. George moved to Remer in 1986 and shortly thereafter started Phyle Painting and Remodeling. When he wasn’t working, George enjoyed wood crafting, making knives, hunting, fishing, working on cars, reading, bird watching and spending time with his family and dogs.
George is survived by his children, Kelli Ramey of St. Paul, MN, John Phyle of Lonsdale, MN, and Matthew (Jill) Phyle of Prior Lake, MN; by 8 grandchildren; by 3 great-grandchildren; by his siblings, Warren (Carol) Phyle of Phoenix, AZ, Brian (Terri) Phyle of Lindstrom, MN, and Paul Phyle of Burnsville, MN; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William Phyle.
Interment will be on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
