George F. Caron, age 79 of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, MN surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault with Fr. Kevin Kenney, officiating. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.
George Francis, the son of Wilfrid and Jessie (Beucler) Caron, was born on June 4, 1937 in Faribault. He attended Faribault High School. After high school, George served in the U.S. Army. On September 20, 1956 he was united in marriage to Delores Hausen at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. George enjoyed woodworking and worked as a carpenter and homebuilder. He worked for different builders until he started his own home building business, George Caron Construction Company and built many quality homes in the Faribault. Later George worked as the Superintendent of buildings and grounds for Shattuck-St. Mary's Schools. He served as a Sacred Heart Church Council member, was a lead usher for many years, volunteered for many years with the Boys Scouts and 4-H, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 889 and the Faribault Moose Lodge. George enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, throwing horse shoes, gardening, visiting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and most recently spent many hours making Rosaries for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delores Caron; by eight beloved children, Julie (Gerry) Hoisington, Joe (Krisann) Caron, Anne (Tony) Caron, Bev (Ray) Wagner, Chris (Karon) Caron, Therese (Scott) Amundson, John (Trisha) Caron and Jim Caron (Tina Malkavage); by 32 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren; by two brothers, Dennis "Joe" (Georgy) Caron and Duane Caron; by four sisters, Theresa (Lyle) Hoaglund, Kathy (Butch) Schwartz, Jean (Lorrie) Finstuen and Debbie (John) Olson; by his brother-in-law, Larry Borst and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two great grandchildren in infancy, Cohen and Calla Hoisington, brother, Roland (Pat) Caron and sister, Janice Borst.
