Gebhard W. Singlestad, age 94, of Waseca peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the New Richland Care Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Waseca with Reverend Cary Larson officiating. Interment will be held at Woodville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. The Tuscan Lodge no. 77 of Waseca, MN will be conducting a Masonic Service on Friday at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. There will also be visitation held for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
The family requests that memorials be given to the donor's choice.
Gebhard Webster, son of Sever and Ida (Dahl) Singlestad, was born on August 4, 1920 in Emmons, Minnesota. Along with his family, he moved to Waseca in 1927. He attended and graduated from Waseca Central High School. He was united in marriage to Ilene Kelm on November 9, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waseca. He worked as a rural mail carrier for 13 years and he sold Farm Bureau insurance for 10 years, but Geb was always a farmer. He loved being in the fields. He was involved in many church activities and was a member of the Masonic Temple in Waseca for over 45 years. He loved to travel and spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Geb always had a smile on his face.
Geb is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ilene Singlestad of Waseca; children Shirley (Jerry) Wagner of Black River Falls, WI, Scott (Vicky) Singlestad of Waseca, Sharon (Scott) Barnhart of LaCrosse, WI and Susan Singlestad of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Paula (JR) Augustine of TN, Amy (Clint) Johnson of WI, Brandon (Mindy) Wagner of WI, Holly (Travis Meimann) Nyman of WI, Michelle (Craig) Baxter of AK, Michael Singlestad of Waseca, Kristy Singlestad of MN, Sarah (Dave) Burnham of MN and Nicole (Josiah) Loeffelholz of WI; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Johnson of Edina; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gilbert Singlestad and Donald Singlestad and by his sister, Senora Jorgensen.
