Gary Sturmer

Gary L. Sturmer, age 73 of Faribault, MN passed away on February 4, 2018, at the District One Hospital in Faribault, following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Dr. Faribault. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Gary Lee, the son of John and Lydia (Voth) Sturmer, was born on May 26, 1944 in Mountain Lake, MN. He graduated from Windom High School in 1962 and graduated from Mankato State with a degree in education. He also proudly served his country in Vietnam as an infantryman in the U.S. Army. Gary taught at the middle school and high school in Faribault for 34 years. Later in life he bartended at Grampa Al's. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin fishing with his family and friends, woodworking in his shop, and reading any book he could get his hands on.

He is survived by his daughter, Linsey (JD) Green of Apple Valley; by his son, Josh Sturmer of Faribault; and his 3 grandchildren, Jackson, Skylenn, and Jadyn; and many other friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be directed to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in memory of Gary.
