Gary E. Kjos

Gary E. Kjos, age 67, of Brooklyn Park, MN, and formerly of Owatonna, MN, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023, at his home following an extended illness.

Gary Edward was born on May 10, 1956, in Owatonna, MN, to Clarence and Rose (Ruzek) Kjos.  He graduated from Owatonna High School with the class of 1974 and completed his associate degree at Minnesota School of Business in 1976.  Gary worked at Twin City Wholesale Drug Company for over 20 years.  During that time, he made many lifelong friends including his future wife, Marty Schmidt.  They were married on February 25, 1995.  He also worked for KMB Limited for 10 years and was a data analyst for Shop NBC for 13 years.  Gary enjoyed golfing, gardening, bicycling, photography, fishing, and camping in the Boundary Waters.  He was very interested in all things involving new technology and cherished the time with his cats.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marty Kjos; brother, Ron Kjos (Jean); sisters, Janice Schmidt, and Judy Drevlow (Jerry); cats, Ziggi and Olivia; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Rose.

A time to celebrate Gary’s life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault.  Interment will be held at a later date at Owatonna Memorial Gardens.
