Franklin L. Philipp, age 91 of Waseca, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Janesville Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 10th at 1:00 P.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca with Reverend John Omans, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Waseca's Woodville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of service, at St. John Lutheran Church. McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca is handling arrangements. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Franklin Louis was born on January 17, 1921 in Waseca, Minnesota to Louis and Marie (Mertens) Philipp. He graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1938, and went on to attend St. Olaf College in Northfield. He served his country as member of the Army Air Corp during WWII. Frank was predominantly known for his radio broadcasting career. He was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church, and a faithful volunteer in the Waseca Community. He was a life member of the Waseca Sweet-Sommers V.F.W. Post 1642, and the Waseca American Legion #228. Frank enjoyed flowers, photography, and fishing. He had a passionate interest in people and a great love for the City of Waseca. He is survived by his wife Geneva Philipp of Waseca; his children, Linda (Bill) Hane of Ely, Marinell Jo Philipp of Motley, and Lori (Paul) Diekoff of Shoreview; his step-children, Carolyn Nelson of Littleton, CO, Steven Schuster, Carol Gramentz of Mapleton, and Karen Monson of Kasson; grandchildren, Shalee Hane, Carrie Philipp, Helen, Hallie, and Paul III Diekoff; great grandchildren, Jade Marie Hane Buchwitz, and Sam William Hane Keller. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Lena (Morrow) Philipp, and Helen (Buck) Philipp; infant daughter, Paula Marie Philipp; sister, Lucille at infancy.
