Francis Mcgannon

Francis McGannon, age 82, of Waseca passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Colony Court in Waseca.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Father Gregory Leif officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Francis McGannon, son of John and Mary (Lonergan) McGannon, was born on June 26, 1933 in Waseca, Minnesota. He was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Francis was a lifelong farmer in the Waldorf area and a member of St. Joseph's parish in Waldorf. In addition to farming, he worked at Bird's Eye in Waseca for many years. On October 29, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kramer in Adrian, Minnesota. After he retired from farming, he and Mary Ann moved into Waseca and became members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Francis enjoyed playing cards, gardening, knitting, and woodworking.

Francis is survived by his children, Helen McGannon of Owatonna, Jim McGannon of New Prague, and Rita (Matt) Jones of Mankato; grandchildren, Katie McGannon, Andy McGannon, Dylan Jones, and Morgan Jones; brother, Joe (Veronica) McGannon, sister, Theresa Wengronowitz of CA; and by many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2014; parents; son, Patrick McGannon; and daughter, Cathleen Ageta.
