Evelyn Malecha

Evelyn E. Malecha, age 89 of Faribault, died on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna, MN, following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to services.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna or to the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in memory of Evelyn.

Evelyn Emma, the daughter of John and Ludmilla (Hlavac) Pivec, was born on October 20, 1926 at their family farm in Erin Township, Rice County, MN. On January 5, 1944 she was united in marriage to Frank J. Malecha at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. Frank preceded her in death on March 24, 2002. After their marriage they farmed in the Morristown area until the mid 1960's when they moved to Faribault. Evelyn and Frank enjoyed going to dances. Evelyn also enjoyed playing cards, gardening, canning, baking and spending time with her family and friends. She is a member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

She is survived by her three children, Donna Wilde, Armand Malecha and Donna Hengel and Sherman Malecha, all of Faribault; by seven grandchildren, Craig Malecha, Michelle Breiner, Jolene Wilde, Jesse Malecha, Josey Wolf, Joseph Eul and Carrie Eul and by 13 great grandchildren; by her sister, Violet Milan of Richfield, MN; by her best friend LeRoy Sticha of Faribault and by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son Norman, her brother, John Pivec Jr., her son-in-law, LuVerne Wilde and by other relatives.
