Eugene Arnold, the son of Theodore C. and Margaret M. (Johnson) Munson, was born at the family farm in Aurora Township, Steele County, MN on April 28, 1932. He attended Owatonna High School and graduated with the class of 1951. Following high school Gene served in the U.S. Air Force and upon his honorable discharge continued his schooling at Mankato State University. Gene worked for several years at the Owatonna Canning Company and later was a custodian at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault. Eugene lived at Piper’s Good Tidings for over 10 years. He made many friends and once he met you you were considered his friend. He was interested in finding out people’s nationality and would try to remember that and start his next conversation with you about your heritage. Gene enjoyed trips to the library and was an avid reader, especially books about Minnesota and Indian history. He also had a strong faith and spent many hours reading the Bible and enjoyed reciting poetry, gardening, nature, animals and loved people.
He is survived by his sister, Elsie Pelley of Faribault, by nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Bernice Burschem and two brothers, Sidney and Theodore “Teddy” Munson.
