Erik J., the son of Gary and Barbara (Stuedemann) Holmgren, was born on June 18, 1976, in Waconia, Minnesota. He attended Mankato East High School and graduated in the class of 1994 and eventually continued his education at South Central Technical College in Mankato where he graduated with highest honors in 2003. Erik worked at Taylor Corp in North Mankato as a computer programmer for several years. In 2008, Erik was a major part of the grand opening of the Starfire Grill in Waseca, and has continued to work and oversee many of the day-to-day operations. He truly treasured the many friendships and good times he had while working there over the years.
Outside of working, Erik dedicated himself to the love of his life, his daughter Keira Ellana. He also enjoyed bowling, camping, being outdoors, watching football, especially the Vikings, his huskies Jack and Lakota, and traveling with family and friends. Erik was a gentle man and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, and never missed the opportunity to discuss politics, philosophy, current events, music or thoughts on football with anyone.
He is survived by his daughter, Keira and her mom Kim Ruble of Waseca; his mother and stepdad, Barb (Phil) Powell of Rochester; his father, Gary Holmgren of Glencoe; his sister, Heather Holmgren (John Reinardy) of Hampton, MN, and by many other family members and friends.
