Emily I. Blais, age 90 of Faribault, MN passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Castle Ridge Senior Living in Eden Prairie, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault, with Fr. Kevin Kenney officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School and Divine Mercy Catholic School in memory of Emily.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Emily Irene was born May 15, 1926 to Albert and Viola (Gibson) Pirkl in Deerfield Township, Steele County, Minnesota. Emily attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Leonard A. Blais on August 23, 1947 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Emily was a devoted wife and had a strong life long faith that she lived every day. She took pride in raising her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them and especially enjoyed interacting with her grandchildren. Emily enjoyed reading, scripture study and being a member of the Fatima Prayer Group.
She is survived by her 10 children, Larry (Marty) Blais, Roger (Nancy) Blais, Barbara (Dean) Norman, Sam (Jill) Blais, Pam (Pete) Hilyar, David (Lhena) Blais, Julie (Dave) Pexa, Bonita (Allen) Kern, Rose (John) Hagen, and Elaine (Paul) Morley; 35 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Sharon) Pirkl; sisters; Bernice Thompson , Theresa (George) Krippner and Cathy Durand and sister-in-law, Teresa (Bob) Ballentine and by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Blais recently on February 12, 2017, her parents, Albert and Viola; two children, Mary Miller-Boardway and Christine Blais; by 5 sisters, Cecelia Steppan, Rita Burke, Dolores Bottleson, Phyllis Helgeson and Mary Jean Lee.
