Elsie L. Kasparek, age 89, of Faribault, died on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Elsie Lillian Ziskovsky, the daughter of Joseph and Ludmilla (Cervenka) Ziskovsky, was born on February 5, 1921 on a farm near Lonsdale, in Wheatland Township. She married Frank W. Kasparek on October 28, 1940 in Veseli, MN. They farmed near Montgomery for 2 years then moved to a farm near Roberds Lake. Later they moved to Faribault. Elsie was employed at the Faribault Regional Center starting in 1953, working in the position of custodial worker, seamstress and later her title changed to sewing machine operator, which she held until her retirement in 1985. She and Frank loved to go fishing, traveling and playing cards. He preceded her in death on August 2, 2006. Elsie also enjoyed knitting, quilting, and crocheting. Elsie was a member of the Divine Mercy Church, Daughters of Isabella, Senior Center Red Hat Society, and the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Mike) Barry of Faribault; daughter-in-law, Bert (Kasparek) Mohling of New Market; five grandchildren, Dean (Toni) Kasparek, Paula (Brad) Tansom, Kate (John) Sandberg, Lisa (Rick) Diffiné, and Steve (Lynn) Barry; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Adeline Anderson of Hopkins; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Marvin Kasparek; and brother, Raymond Ziskovsky.
