Ella H. Stubbs Dumdei, age 94, of Pembroke Pines, Florida and formerly of Janesville, died peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Interment will be held at the Smiths Mill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are being completed by the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville.
Ella Holtz, the daughter of Hugo and Ella (Mittlesteadt) Holtz, was born on February 17, 1920 in Freedom Township, Waseca County. She was baptized at the Freedom Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, and also renewed her baptismal vows through confirmation in 1933 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Ella attended Janesville High School and graduated with the class of 1938 and continued her education at the Minneapolis Business College. On June 17, 1942, she was united in marriage to Gerald Stubbs at the Trinity Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children: Wayne, Neal, and Cheryl. Ella and Jerry lived in North Miami, Florida where she worked as a bookkeeper and also sold real estate before being later divorced. Ella returned home to her fiftieth class reunion where she met her friends brother, Gordon Dumdei. They later married on September 17, 1988 and have been enjoying the summers in Minnesota and the winters in Florida ever since. Ella was a charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Miami, Florida and also enjoyed painting many inspirational and landscape paintings, tending to her flowers and her rose garden, golfing, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Dumdei; her children, Wayne (Judy) Stubbs, Neal (Deborah) Stubbs, and Cheryl (Harold) Lovell; her grandchildren, Michelle (Garfield) Griffiths, Matthew Stubbs, Michael (Cristina) Stubbs, Sean Stubbs, Zachary (Casi) Stubbs, Jennifer (Shawn) Benyo, and Daniel Lovell; her many great grandchildren carrying on the family; her stepchildren, Darla Hansen, Donna (Marlin) Krupp, and Gary Dumdei; and by many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her half-brother, Holland Holtz.
