Edwin W Hazard, age 91 of Janesville, died on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Janesville Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 4:00 p.m. at the Elysian United Methodist Church in Elysian with Rev. Bescye Burnett, officiating. The Hazard Family will greet friends on Saturday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the Elysian United Methodist Church. It was Edwin's wish to will his body to the Mayo Clinic Anatomical Bequest Program. It was his desire to further the advancement of medical education and research for future health science professionals. Edwin Wayne was born on February 10, 1920 in Cooperstown, North Dakota to James and Cora (Houghton) Hazard. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Hagan on December 10, 1939 in Finley, ND. Edwin was a farmer for 70 years. He owned and operated a farm in Griggs County, ND until 1968 at which time he moved to Warren, MN. Edwin worked as foreman for Jacobi Farms until he retired in 2001, and he and Evelyn moved to Elysian, MN. In 2005 they moved to Janesville, MN. Edwin was a member of the Elysian United Methodist Church in Elysian. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; by his 6 children, Cheryl (Robert) Basol of Janesville, MN, LaRayne Hall of Rock Hill, SC, Michael (Theresa) Hazard of Elysian, MN, Lynn Hazard of Mankato, MN, Dwight (Dorothy) Hazard of Kenya, Africa, and Jeffrey (Susan) Hazard of Rochester, MN; by his 12 grandchildren, 1 step grandson, and 13 great grandchildren; by is brother William (Marjorie) Hazard of Cooperstown, ND, and 3 sisters, Marjorie (Clifford) Ashland of Seal Beach, CA, Joanne Schwappach of Bismarck, ND, and Ardys Rundle of LaCrosse, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jessica Hazard, daughter-in-law, Sally Hazard, and brothers Bruce and James Jr.
