Edward L.Pfalzgraff, age 81 of Waterville, died on Friday, October 26, 2012 at his home in Waterville.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 31st 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville with Rev. David C. Mumme, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the St. John's-Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Iosco Twsp, Waseca County.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 4 to 8 PM Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
Edward Leroy was born June 26, 1931 in Mankato, Minnesota to Arthur and Blondina (Albrecht) Pfalzgraff. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Bell Church in rural Elysian. Ed attended St. Peter's Parochial School, and in 1949 graduated from Waterville High School. He went on to attend Gale Institute in Minneapolis. In 1950 Ed began his career with the Milwaukee Railroad. He served his country for two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ed was united in marriage to Gwendolynn Rose Fischer on October 10, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Following his military duty, he resumed his career with the railroad, and he and Gwen raised their family and made their home in St. Paul. After 39 years of service to the railroad, he retired in 1987. In 1991 Ed and Gwen moved to Waterville. Ed was an avid fisherman. He was also a wonderful craftsman, making lawn ornaments and other novelties out of wood. He treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen of Waterville; son, Daniel (Beverly) Pfalzgraff of Garland, TX; daughters, Debra (Roger) DeSerano of Eagan, and Rosanne (Daniel) Heinicke of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Amy (Ryan) O'Connor, Aaron and Abby Pfalzgraff, Heather (Phil) Ford, Tamara (Peter) Didion, and Joseph (Kristen) Heinicke; great grandchildren, Luke O'Connor, Zachary and Natalie Ford, Jackson and Justin Didion, and Addison and Alivia Heinicke; sister-in-law, Carrie Westphal of Janesville; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur (Bernice) Pfalzgraff; 2 grandchildren, Baby Boy, and Kelly Kay Olsen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gardner and Esther Fischer; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Fischer) Roemhildt; brothers-in-law, Robert Roemhildt, and LaVern Westphal.
Casketbearers are: Jim Watzek, Jared Watzek, Howard Pfalzgraff, Bruce Pfalzgraff, Keith Wheelock, and Ralph Cram.
Honorary casketbearers are: Guy Westphal, and Zachary Ford.
