Edward J. Gaughan, age 86, of Montgomery, MN passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Mill City Senior Living in Faribault.
Edward James was born on April 26, 1934 in St. Paul, MN to Harold and Mary (Hodnett) Gaughan. He graduated from Monroe High School in St. Paul. Edward served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kaderlik on June 20, 1959 at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Ed worked for 27 years as a fabricator for National Heater. He later worked for Green Giant until his retirement. During this time, he also farmed with Mary Ann on their farm in Erin Township, Rice County. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and most importantly time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Ann Gaughan of Montgomery; son, Steve (Tammy) Gaughan of Farmington, MN; daughter, Dianna (Darin) Younger of Northfield, MN; grandchildren, Nicole Pince, Teasha Gaughan, Joelene Gaughan, and Alan James; and by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Gaughan; parents, Harold and Mary; brothers, Bob, John, Dave, Ralph, Lawrence, and Patrick Gaughan.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville (7525 Dodd Road, Faribault). Interment will be at the St. Patrick Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.
Memorial visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
