Edna A. Fihn, age 100 of Faribault, MN passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault with Fr. Cory Rohlfing officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to Bethlehem Academy High School in memory of Edna.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Edna Ann, the daughter of Olney and Rebecca (Walsh) Brown, was born on November 9, 1918 in West Greenwich Township, Rhode Island. She attended Northfield High School and graduated with the class of 1935. On December 31, 1935 she was united in marriage to Bertrand Fihn at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Bertrand preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2003. After their marriage they lived in Northfield and then moved to Faribault. Edna worked as the Head of Food Service at the State Hospital in Faribault for 8 years. For many years she was also the bookkeeper for Bert’s business. Edna loved being around her grandchildren and anything Irish. She also enjoyed working in her flower gardens and going for rides in the car. For a few years she delivered meals on wheels to the home bound.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Dennis) Schwartz of Plymouth, MN and Janice (Jerry) Schmitz of Faribault; by five grandchildren, Brad (Lisa) Schmitz of Faribault and their children, Tanner and Mara, Becky Zabinski of St. Cloud, MN and her daughters, Kelly (Parker) Schendzielos (Connor and Kali) and Kari Zabinski, Sheri (Tim) Wagner of Faribault and their sons, Josh and Parker, Stacy Kruger of Faribault and her son Braden and Dan Schwartz of Edina, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
