Edgar "Ed" H. Thomas, age 72, of Faribault, died peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2009 at the Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, with his family at his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, at Sacred Heart in Faribault. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis on Friday morning. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services. Edgar Hugh Thomas, the son of Edgar B. & Opal (Smith) Thomas was born on February 2, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1955 and was given honorable discharge in 1961. On September 2, 1961, Ed was united in marriage to Elaine Trudeau at the Incarnation Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Ed and Elaine lived in Minneapolis until 1976 when they moved to Hunt Lake, Kilkenny, MN. They lived at the lake until 1999 when they moved into Faribault. Ed drove truck for thirty years for Roadway Express Trucking Company. He also had his own business, E & K Lock and Key. Ed was always known as the "Mr. Fix-It" man and enjoyed helping and fixing things for others. He was a member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Eagles Club of Faribault and the Faribault Area Senior Center where he volunteered to help with funeral escorts. Ed also enjoyed watching sports, camping, traveling, boating, fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Elaine of Faribault; by his children Ken Thomas of Faribault, Bonnie (Mark) Peterson of Hackensack, MN and Shelly Thomas of Morristown; by his eight grandchildren Heidi (Mark) Tuma, Heather Thomas, Laura Davis, Nathan Seibel, Kelley Murphy, Megan Murphy, Caitlin Murphy and John Murphy; by his three great grandchildren Jason Bliss, Tyler Davis and Caden Murphy; by his half brothers Bob (Lori) Thomas and Mike Thomas, both of Arizona and by all of the Trudeau family and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his sister Judy Bueller; and by his half sister June Mecle.
