Duane Vargo

Duane F. Vargo, age 66 of Faribault, MN, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at his home following an extended illness.

Duane Francis, the son of Paul and Margaret (Zellmer) Vargo, was born on March 18, 1954 in Faribault.  He attended Faribault Senior High School.  Duane first worked for several years at the Fairway Distribution Center in Northfield, MN and later worked for 12 years at Auto Zone in Faribault in sales and as a delivery driver.  Spending time with his daughters and grandsons was very important to Duane.  He enjoyed helping others and would do anything to help someone.  He loved working on cars, going to van shows, watching the Twins, Vikings and NASCAR and was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan.

He is survived by his daughters, Angela (Robert) Rothe of Denver, CO and their son, Harrison Rothe and Christina Vargo of Denver, CO and her son, Evan Bennett; by his siblings, Donna Ludowese of Beaver Dam, WI, Richard (Wendy) Vargo of Montgomery, MN, Leon (Carol) Vargo and Dennis Vargo, all of Faribault; by his former spouse, Catherine Beus (Jandro) of Denver, CO and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by three brothers, Kenneth, Donald and Paul “Ray” Vargo and by his sister, Darlene Cemensky and by his niece, Charlotte Cemensky.

Private family memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, officiating.  Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny, MN at a later date.  The service will also be livestreamed through a link found on Duane’s obituary page at www.ParkerKohlFuneralHome.com.

Public visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
