Duane Miller

Duane R. Miller, age 79, of Faribault, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at home on Saturday, May 6, 2017 following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Bethel Ridge Lutheran Church in Faribault with the Rev. Dan Lazicki, officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.

Duane Robert, the son of Herman and Clara (Biladeau) Miller, was born on March 7, 1938 in Austin, MN. He attended Austin High School and graduated with the class of 1957. On February 26, 1957 he was united in marriage to Janet Gruis in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage Duane served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge. Duane worked as a chef for the Laura Baker School in Northfield for 25 years. During that time he enjoyed taking the special needs children fishing which was always a highlight for all. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, spending time with his family, hunting and fishing and was proud to be a trustee at Bethel Ridge and loved his church very much.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janet Miller of Faribault, MN; by five children, Lauri (Dave) Hillesheim of Wabasso, MN, Chris (Judy) Miller of Marshall, MN, Julie Miller and special friend Steven West of Prior Lake, MN, Wade (Mary) Miller of Watertown, MN and Kelli (Thomas) Cagle of Faribault, MN; by thirteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; by his sister, Doris (Peter) Kent of Salina, KS and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Alice Miller, son in infancy, Martin Miller and by 10 siblings.
