Dr. Donald J. Studer, age 98, of Faribault, MN, formerly of Shorewood, MN, passed away Sun., December 21, 2008 at the District One Hospital in Faribault.             Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, at Immaculate Conception, in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.             Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.             The family prefers that memorials be directed to Divine Mercy Catholic Church and School and Bethlehem Academy High School.             Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault.             Donald James Studer, the son of Edward A. and Mary V. (Kaufmann) Studer, was born on October 9, 1910 in Wesley, IA. He lived in Excelsior, MN from 1914-1940. Graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1938, interned at Minneapolis General Hospital from 1938-1940 and from 1940-1942 served as Medical Officer in Charge at the Fort Peck Hospital, Fort Peck, Montana. He was a contract surgeon with the US 9th Engineers. In 1942-43 he completed a surgical residency at Minneapolis Abbott Hospital and studied Red Cross pediatrics. In 1936 he was united in marriage to Marguerite Armitage. She preceded him in death in 1963. Later in 1991, Don married Florence Johnstone. She preceded him in death in 2004.             He practiced General Medicine in Faribault, MN from 1943-1981. He served as Chief of Staff at the old St. Lucas Hospital and the new District One Hospital. During his career he took pride in having delivered almost 4000 babies, 3500 in the Faribault area.             He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The American Medical Assn, Minnesota Medical Assn, the Rice County Medical Society, the Elks Club, the University of Minnesota Alumni Assn and President's Club. He was a past president of the Faribault Rotary Club in 1960 and the Faribault Youth Service, and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.             He is survived by five children, John Studer of Sopchoppy, FL, David (Amy Gage) Studer of Northfield, MN, Daniel (Jan) Studer of Bonners Ferry, ID, Jane Lund of Minneapolis, MN and Peggy Studer and Michael Sperl of Richfield, MN; by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.             He was preceded in death by his parents, by his infant son Donald, his daughter Donna Sandler, his sister, Mrs. Anson R. Mase and by his eight brothers, Ray, Irvin, Ralph, Herb, Eddie, Louis, Jerome and Jimmy.
