Douglas Hoop

Douglas Hoop, age 58 of Apple Valley, MN and formerly of Faribault, MN, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Home in St. Paul, MN following short illness.

Visitation will be held at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N. in Faribault on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. A prayer service and time of sharing will be held at 3:30 pm Saturday.

Interment will be held at a later date at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

Douglas George Edward, the son of James Wendell and Marlene (Asbe) Hoop, was born on August 22, 1959 in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1977. After high school Doug worked locally at Genova and McQuay and then began driving for private carriers such as DHL. Later he would get his CDL license and drive local intermodal for Werner Transportation and most recently for JB Hunt until his health declined. Doug loved to drive, travel and especially enjoyed trips back to Pennsylvania with his boys to visit his family. Spending time with his boys was very important to Doug. He also enjoyed fishing, especially for walleyes, deer, pheasant and duck hunting, playing cards, softball and listening to music.

He is survived by his sons, Shawn Hoop (Heather Bailey and her daughter Skylar) of Faribault, MN and Jeff (Kristine) Hoop of Las Vegas, NV; by three grandchildren, Sadie Jordan, Kelsey Cook and Shania Bentley; by his sister, Karen Kane of Minneapolis, MN; by his brother, Brad Hoop of St. Paul, MN; by his former wife, Wanda Hoop of Faribault, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
