Dorothy Mae Westphal was born on March 10, 1929, in Waseca to William and Leona (Santo) Westphal. She attended Trinity Lutheran School through 8th Grade and was a 1947 graduate of Janesville High School. After graduation she was united in marriage to Alvin Priem on September 10, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Alongside her husband, Dorothy assisted on the Priem family farm for many years. She also worked for 17 years as the cook at Trinity Lutheran School and was known by many of the students for her special cookies. After retiring Dorothy and Alvin moved to Moose Lake, MN for a short time because Dorothy had always wanted to live "up north". They later moved back to Janesville.
Dorothy was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a charter member of the Dorcas Society. She loved to cook and was known for her baking. Dorothy enjoyed crafts, music and especially playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. She will always be remembered by her family for the selflessness that she showed to them throughout her life, "always taking care of others before herself".
