Dorothy Gallagher

Dorothy E. Gallagher, age 101, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2022, at the New Richard Care Center.

Dorothy Ellen, the daughter of Ralph and Ida (Wood) England was born on December 12, 1920 in Macomb, Illinois.  On December 31, 1943 she was united in marriage to Eugene Gallagher at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault.  Gene preceded her in death on September 13, 1973.  Dorothy worked for 38 years in the Rice County Treasurers office.  12 of those years she served as the Rice County Treasurer and retired in 1993.  Dorothy served for many years as an electoral judge and was also an active member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church helping with records, crocheting prayer shawls and as a money counter.  She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and served many offices including, Past Faribault Regent, State Regent, State Treasurer, State Vice Regent and State Scribe.

Family was very important to Dorothy and she so enjoyed spending time with all of them, it would bring her great joy.  She enjoyed going to northern Minnesota with her family and also loved to travel to different parts of the country.  No matter where she would travel to, she always had her vicks with her just incase she needed it.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Patricia (Michael) Fricke of Edina, MN, Theresa (Steven) Moreau of Faribault, William Gallagher of Faribault and Laura (Randy) Hagen of New Richland, MN; by 13 grandchildren, Brad (Toni Nichols) Gallagher, Ken (Cathy) Fricke, Kevin (Sara Ankrom) Fricke, Bryan (Meghan) Fricke, Sarah Allen, Beckie (JJ) Lawson, Megan Moreau, Nathan (Jasmine) Gallagher, Nick Gallagher, Kyle Gallagher, Brandi (Otto) Wanous, Stormi (Casey) Rosacker and Colton Hagen, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and by other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Michelle Gallagher, her brother, William England and by her sister, M. Joan England.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault.  Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
