Dorothy Foust

Dorothy M. Foust, age 93, of Maplewood, MN and formerly of Faribault, MN, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at The Homestead at Maplewood.

Dorothy Mae was born on January 14, 1929, in Faribault to Carl and Nellie (Ray) Hirdler.  She was united in marriage to Walter Foust on June 1, 1947.  Dorothy worked at Och’s Department Store, Mealey’s, and Dusek’s Bakery in Faribault.  In 1970 she and Walter moved to Wadena and purchased a grocery store.  They operated W & D Grocery store until 1980.  They moved to Park Rapids, MN, and then back to Faribault in 1990.  Dorothy enjoyed crochet, reading, quilting, gardening, canning pickles, baking, and playing bingo and cards.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Sundheim, Lucy (Mike) Parkos, and Kathy Spiess; nine grandchildren, Mike (Shannon) Parkos, Brian (Deanna) Parkos, Lisa Yanez, Jasmine Spiess, Marilyn (Stephen) Mascitti, Reubin (Sarah) Sundheim, David Sundheim, Julie Sundheim, and Jonah (Renee) Sundheim; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; parents, Carl and Nellie; seven brothers; one sister; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, with Rev. Dan Lazicki, pastor on Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, officiating.  Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22nd from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
