Donald S. Morgan, age 86 of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Milestone Assisted Living in Faribault, following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ The King Catholic Church in Medford, MN. Interment will be held at the Resurrection Cemetery, Medford. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Friday, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services. The Medford-Deerfield Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be directed to Christ The King Catholic Church Religious Education, the Rice County Day Activity Center or to the Faribault Area Hospice in memory of Don. Donald Stanley, the son of John and Mary (Ost) Morgan, was born on May 2, 1925 in Deerfield Township, Steele County, MN. Don grew up on his family's farm and started farming at the age of 12. This began a lifelong career in farming in Deerfield Township. On August 16, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Bakken at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Deerfield Township. Together they farmed and raised their family. In 1960 Don started Morgan Farm Service and owned and operated this business until 1987. Don was a founding member of the Medford-Deerfield Knights of Columbus and was also a Past Grand Knight. Don also served as a Past Faithful Navigator of the General Shields Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was inducted into the Rice County Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2011. Don enjoyed life and his family. He especially enjoyed family celebrations and time spent together. He also liked playing cards, dancing and snowmobiling. He was a member of the Medford-Deerfield Knights of Columbus, the Fourth Degree General Shields Assembly and the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles. The family would like to thank the staff at Milestone Assisted Living for the loving care that was given to Don. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Morgan of Faribault; by seven children, Diane (Aldon) Sammon of Faribault, Donna (Mark) Ihlenfeld of Owatonna, Dennis (Deb) Morgan of Morristown, Dawn (Larry) Conrad of Dundas, Douglas Morgan of Medford, Daniel (Donna) Morgan of Medford and Darla (Jeff) Kosanda of Faribault; by 20 grandchildren, Jason (Brenda) Sammon, Steven Sammon, Seth (Nicole) Ihlenfeld, Eric, Wade and Ethan Ihlenfeld, Jessica Morgan, Dustin (Elizabeth) Morgan, Randi Mae Morgan, Cody (Jessica) Morgan, Adam Conrad and fiance Alyssa Tangen, Angela and Ashley Conrad, Tyler, Chelsea, Nicole and Danielle Morgan, Blake, Allison and Kayce Kosanda; by three great grandchildren, Jacob and Elizabeth Sammon and Aela Morgan; by his brother, Everett "Bud" (LaVonne) Morgan of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, great granddaughter, Josephine Sammon, two brothers, John (Ed) and Robert Morgan and by three sisters, Ann Ness, Helen Krueger and Margaret Meyer.
