Donald Maloney

Donald "Don" Maloney, age 88, of Waseca, died on Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home of Waseca.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca, with Father Gregory Leif officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.

Visitation will be held at the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. There will be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home on Wednesday evening.

Donald Edward, the son of Andrew and Ellen (Ryan) Maloney, was born on May 7, 1926, in Decoria Township, Blue Earth County. He attended school and later enlisted in the United States Army during WWII. Following his honorable discharge, Don began helping on the farm and also at Carl's in Waseca. He then began his lifelong career at Brown Printing and retired on July 5, 1991 after forty years. Don loved Studebaker and Cadillac convertibles, helping others, and never missed an opportunity to chat over a good joke. His kindness and generosity to others will never be forgotten by his family and friends. Don was a member of the American Legion Post 228 and the Church of the Sacred Heart, both in Waseca.

Don is survived by his many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Mary, Dan, Ellen, James, Andrew, William, and Thomas.
