Donald E. Hatfield, age 84 of Faribault, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.
Donald Edward, the son of Marion and Frances (Lamberty) Hatfield, was born on December 6, 1930 in Faribault, MN. Don attended Bethlehem Academy High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Army Reserves until 1953. On August 28, 1952 he was united in marriage to Gladys Kaderlik at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Together they raised their 10 children. Gladys preceded him in death on September 25, 2009. Don worked at several businesses in Faribault including, Webb/Asbe Gas Station, Imperial Gas Station, Voegel's Creamery, Murphy Freight, United Van Lines, Republican Van Lines, Bekins Van Lines and for almost 50 years owned and operated his own business, Hatfield Transfer, as a furniture mover. Don's faith was very important to him and he prayed the rosary daily. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up. Don enjoyed gardening, fishing and also looked forward to the deer hunting season each year.
He is survived by his eight children, Pam Hatfield and special friend, Bob Matter of Glenville, MN, Barb (Bucky) Meyer of Faribault, David Hatfield of Minneapolis, MN, Jim (Lori) Hatfield of Faribault, Nancy (Dave) Schoolmeesters of Lonsdale, MN, Connie (Randy) Angell of Faribault, Susan (Rick) Angell of Faribault and Diane (Mike) Tingelhoff of Ellsworth, WI; by 35 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; by his sister, Rene Schmitz of Faribault; by four brothers, John (Janet) Hatfield of Minneapolis, MN, Bob (Janice) Hatfield of Sleepy Eye, MN, Bill (Judy) Hatfield of Faribault and Jerry Hatfield of Faribault and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his daughter, Theresa Castle, his son, Thomas Hatfield and by three sisters, Margie Yerhot, Frances Hoisington and Mary Jane Hanson.
